About the ryokan

🏞️A small, purely Japanese onsen ryokan in Ryujin Village, cradled by the Hidaka River and the mountains
🎎All 13 rooms are washitsu, each with handmade otedama beanbags sewn by the okami herself
🚌About 60 minutes by Ryujin Onsen bus from JR Kii-Tanabe Station, then one minute on foot from the Marui Ryokan stop

Rooms

🛏️Tatami rooms sized 6, 8, 12 and 16 mats, plus 10+6 mat layouts to suit any party
🪟Windows open onto the Hidaka River and the mountain slopes of Ryujin
🚽Every room has a washbasin and fridge, and all shared toilets are washlets

Hot spring

♨️A large bath built entirely of hinoki cypress, looking out on the clear Hidaka River and the hills
🧴The inn's own source from Ryujin Komatagawa Onsen, a gentle bicarbonate spring with calcium carbonate and radium
🕕Open 15:30 to 22:30 and again 6:00 to 9:30 the next morning, with one bath each for men and women

Cuisine

🥩The house favorite, Kumano beef shabu kaiseki, built around Wakayama's prized black wagyu hot pot
🐟Salt-grilled ayu (amago from early February), steamed duck loin and other seasonal dishes from river and mountain
🍚Dinner in your room; breakfast in the first-floor dining hall with steamer-cooked vegetables in a wholesome Japanese set
