This roughly 100㎡ townhouse once served as a waiting house for courtesans of Maruyama, counted among Japan's three great pleasure quarters. The 75-year-old building has been renovated for guests.

Dry garden with weeping plum

A karesansui-style Japanese garden is planted with a weeping plum tree that blooms from late winter into spring and turns lush green in summer.

Two floors for up to 8

One group has the entire two-story house. Two double beds and four single futons sleep up to eight guests.

Kitchen and self check-in

The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, stove, rice cooker and basic cookware, plus a washing machine. There is no on-site staff; check-in is by electronic key.

In Nagasaki's Maruyama district near the Shianbashi tram stop (no private parking; paid lot a 1-minute walk away)
