Hachimantai Onsenkyo Hachimantai Heights

A highland hot spring resort facing Mt. Iwate in Hachimantai

Annex Himekami

Five individually designed twin rooms, each with a private hinoki hot spring bath (indoor or open-air), with a special dinner served in the room. The VIP suite, where Emperor Showa once stayed, has a free-flowing hinoki hot spring bath.

Garden rock bath

A garden-style open-air rock bath set with large volcanic stones and an open-air hinoki bath alternate daily between men and women. The large bath draws on Hachimantai Onsen, a simple sulfur spring.

Rooms with open-air baths

Second-floor tatami rooms on the Mt. Iwate side have a private hinoki open-air bath looking out at the mountain (the in-room baths are not hot spring water).

Butcher-run kitchen

Meat comes straight from the butcher that runs the hotel, alongside Iwate produce; the signature dish is the Obuke horumon hot pot made with local Tochu-tea pork.
