A hostel and café in a renovated former clinic in Tamana's old port town of Takase

A renovated clinic building

Opened in May 2020 in a 42-year-old former orthopedic clinic. Guest rooms are on floors 2–4, with a café & bar and a shop on the ground floor.

Ground-floor café & craft shop

The café & bar uses local producers and seasonal ingredients, serving a set meal of dagojiru (a local dumpling soup) at lunch and rare Kyushu drinks and natural wine in the evening. The shop Tashron sells handcrafted everyday goods.

Cabin and hammock-loft family rooms

One family room for up to 8 has a wooden cabin built inside; another for up to 5 has a loft with a hammock. There is also a tatami Japanese room for up to 6.

Walk old Takase port town

The surrounding Takase district was an Edo-period port for shipping rice, and the Takase boat landing, Takase Megane Bridge and old stone walls still remain.

Getting there

About 5 minutes by car from JR Tamana Station, or 6 minutes from Shin-Tamana Station on the Kyushu Shinkansen (free parking on the Kikuchi River bank opposite)
