Bamboo-light concept

Opened in August 2021 and produced by CHIKAKEN, a Kumamoto-based team that stages bamboo-light installations across Japan. At night the house is lit by bamboo lanterns.

Make a bamboo lamp

Workshops are held regularly where you pick a pattern and drill it into Kumamoto bamboo to make a lampshade. Guests pay 2,500 yen (small) or 3,500 yen (large); book via the official LINE account.

Veranda by the garden

The shared ground-floor engawa veranda looks out onto the garden, and in the evening you can watch the bamboo lights glow.

Roomy shared kitchen

A shared kitchen with fridge, microwave, rice cooker, tableware and seasonings lets you cook for yourself, with a supermarket within a 5-minute walk.
