Hotel & Residence Nanshukan

A long-established Kagoshima hotel in the heart of Tenmonkan, known for its Kurokuma black pork shabu-shabu

Signature Kurokuma black pork shabu-shabu

The hotel's signature hot pot uses Kagoshima black pork and took the overall title at the 2006 National Cultural Festival hot pot contest. The house broth is simmered for over five hours from Rishiri kombu, Kagoshima katsuobushi and seven kinds of vegetables.

The Saigo-themed "3153 Room"

A gallery-style tatami room dedicated to Saigo Takamori, displaying books, goods and shochu about him. The Saigo Takamori statue is visible from the window and is a 4-minute walk away.

Shirasu walls and local timber

Some rooms feature walls of shirasu volcanic soil, Kagoshima cedar and cypress floors, or Ryukyu igusa tatami. The hotel's wood design earned Wood Design Awards in 2015 and 2018.
