Toutou Achi no Sho Kura no Yado

A whole Meiji-era rice storehouse to yourself, near Kurashiki's Bikan Historical Quarter

An 1897 storehouse

The storehouse, moved to this site around 1897, was renovated and is rented as a whole building. The renovation restored its original namako tiled walls and reused structural timbers, mud walls and floorboards.

Bizen brick fireplace

The north wall of the living room is built from firebricks made in Bizen, Okayama, around a gas fireplace. The floor is local red pine that had been stored for over twenty years.

Tatami rooms upstairs

Under the open ceiling, the second floor has a 15.5-mat tatami room and a 3-mat tatami space overlooking the living room and courtyard. The ground floor has a bedroom with two beds and a kitchen.

Crafted furniture and tableware

Run by toutou, a Kurashiki craft gallery, the stay features a sofa set by woodworker Hitoshi Fujisaki and tableware by artists such as Kenichi Sasagawa and Jin Morimoto.

About a 15-minute walk from the south exit of JR Kurashiki Station, near the Bikan Historical Quarter; one free parking space in front
