Chisun Inn Nagoya

A yellow cylindrical tower nicknamed the 'Corn Hotel', 4 minutes from Nagoya Station

Corn-cob architecture

Opened in 1973, this yellow cylindrical building is studded with protruding blocks that house each room's unit bathroom, earning it the nickname 'Corn Hotel' (Tomorokoshi Hotel).

Lightning-bolt spiral stairs

Two spiral staircases run from the 1st to the 10th floor; looking down, the steps and yellow paint form a zigzag lightning pattern. The building is doughnut-shaped, so courtyard-side rooms look onto the inner court.

Nagoya-meshi breakfast

The Japanese-Western buffet includes ogura toast and kishimen noodles, plus a rotating daily special of fried shrimp, miso katsu or ankake spaghetti. Served 6:30-9:00.

Getting there

About 4 min walk from the Taikodori (Shinkansen) Exit of JR Nagoya Station; about 8 min from Meitetsu and Kintetsu Nagoya stations

Best for

Travelers who want an affordable base by Nagoya Station with a dose of quirky architecture
