Big window on the pine

The upper floor has a window running from the floor to above the beams, framing the temple's 'Kuon no Matsu' pine and the scenery as it changes through the day.

Ascetic-practice tub bath

The bathtub reuses a wooden bucket that was used for the temple's water ascetic practice (suigyo) about 50 years ago. The interior is finished entirely in shikkui lime plaster.

Private rental for up to 10

You rent the entire building: two bedrooms plus a tatami room. There is a full kitchen for self-catering; you can also eat out locally or, on request, have catered meals (shidashi) arranged.

Optional temple experiences

The neighbouring Sankodo hall, linked by a terrace, offers optional morning services, meditation and workshops. Daikeiji is a Nichiren Buddhist temple.

Getting there

About 10 minutes by taxi from the north exit of JR Fujieda Station (Shizutetsu Justline buses also run); by car, about 10 minutes from Yaizu IC on the Tomei Expressway
